About

I am 27 years old as of posting this site and will be turning 30 in 31 months. This is a list of things I would like to experience or accomplish by August 15, 2011. First, if you ever would like to refer back to my initial post with the tour and explanation, you can go here.

Criteria

Coming up with this list was not an easy process. Ask those who follow me on Twitter who were probably annoyed at the amount of times I requested ideas. I asked friends, talked to people who had already passed 30, and consulted the web for ideas.

However, make no mistake, each one of these ideas is very personal to me as you can see by reading each descriptor. I have chosen each one of these with the idea that I can accomplish them. I did not put my list in any particular order of importance or grouping. I welcome anyone and everyone to help out or participate as I work towards their accomplishment.

I will regularly update the site with pictures and details as I work towards each goal.

What’s Missing?

One of the things noticeably absent from my list that I saw on others was “To Get Married.” Anybody who knows me, understands this is one of my top aspirations and dreams. However, to try and rush something as serious as marriage because of a milestone was a bit offsetting for me. I would love to be married by 30 but realistically, it probably won’t happen given my current status. I also have to find a girl that will be willing participant in the matter who loves me. I am somewhat remorseful that I have not taken greater chances at finding love up to this point but I can’t change anything now.

Also missing from my list is a lot of service oriented things. Shy of sponsoring a child and donating blood, many of my goals are of self-interest. This is deliberate. I did not want to be confined to to only helping a particular population. I enjoy serving others and try to do so in some facet in some way each and every day. To make a goal out of it seemed a bit redundant. I could easily add to my list “Volunteer more,” or “Do more charitable work.” But I have not and that is because I think it should be a daily and life pursuit and not something for a list.

  1. I love this! It’s similar to my Thirty Days of Turning Thirty (30dot30) celebration–on a larger scale! Having a goal for the big 3-0 is great!
Best of luck! Looking forward to following along!

  2. Hi :-)

I thought I was gonna be (un)original and make myself a project: 30 things to do before turnign 30.Not as a blog project, just in general. Turns out, Not original at all! I havent been able to read through all of your blog, but seems like you have done well :-) original or not, I might still do it.

  3. Hi, I came across your blog while looking for things to do for my 30th this year, and this is really cool. Congrats on the goals you have accomplished and best of wishes as you continue to finish the others. I’m sure you’ll complete them all, b/c you seem to be very determined and focused. Also I love your discription of the Bible. I’ve been in church all my life and know all to well how easy it is to miss what it’s all about. Again very cool ideas, thanks for sharing. S. Drigo
