The best way to go down a mountain is on your feet. I will be choosing to take that same route painfully on my tuckus. I have skied many times and, while I am not an expert, can successfully make it down Black Diamond slopes in Colorado without falling. I am ready for a new challenge and what better way to remove the training poles than to put both feet on the same sliding object as I hurtle towards my piny, splintery doom.
This may actually be accomplished as early as this month as I already have committed to going with some friends to Snowshoe, West Virginia. Among the people going is my friend James-Michael Smith who can not only carve Greek letters in the snow with his board, but is rumored to be a pretty good teacher. He has unwisely agreed to share the tricks of his skill with me.
